Worth the Detour (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Much of what you’ve received over the past few years of reading this publication revolves around travel photography and travel writing. That’s been a throughline, whether it’s nearby in Providence, Rhode Island, as a Street Photography destination or far-flung places like Jerusalem, Istanbul, or Oaxaca, Mexico. The thread has been, travel, both near and far.My intent is to keep that rhythm of travel and storytelling of places that, well, just weren’t a part of the plan but were worth the detour.

Without a doubt, Scott proved again and again that his speed could not be matched. Granted, the competitive group was small, just six other 14-year-old boys. Will and I are not friends, and his publicity team did not reach out to me. Rather, we simply collided, almost literally, on the High Line along the west side of New York last month. There was a moment of chaos and noise up ahead as I walked along. Suddenly, a few men with placards stormed through the crowd, and as they passed me, I instinctively pushed the shutter, then realized who that frontman was.<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!pDTN!
