Paul Conneally
I make music, art and poetry. Collaborative poetry, music and art is my bag. Working with and alongside others is joyous (at least when it’s going well 😉). I’ve decided where possible to be in life, in the moment.

A Bag of Mangoes (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Leicester has been identified by the government as an ‘innovation cluster’. Almost as soon as it’s said the phrase starts to lose its edges. An electric bus pulls out of St Margaret’s bus station. In an upstairs room someone is still working. Someone else is teaching a teenager in their kitchen. Everyone loves a maths tutor. Ordinary families are trying hard to make things hold together. The city carries on as usual, mostly unaware of its new label. Lights appear above the shops.autumn twilightt
Champagne Love (opens the original)
Read excerpt
The heat arrives early. What should ripen slowly becomes sugar overnight. I sit with a glass in the evening light and think of how some loves do the same. They flower ahead of season, take on more sweetness than they can carry. Afterwards, everyone talks about the weather. We missed it. The warming ground, the turn towards the sun. Two hearts harvesting themselves. The air is charged with return.late summer heatin the empty champagne flutea longer evening
