Patrick’s Substack

I'm using Substack as a motivator. I want to become more productive as a writer. I write short stories, essays, and, occasionally, poems. I have no particular agenda; I just write about whatever grabs my attention.

That’s just how Brixton is. I like to think that some of them go on to better things. Others, however, seem so damaged by life that it’s hard not to imagine the worst. Perhaps, as some religious people might be inclined to put it, they also go on to a better place.<sp

A hunk of fresh crusty bread, a lump of cheese - today, it’s comté - and a bowl of figs (fresh of course). Oh, ok and some red wine, I’ll admit it. This, my friend, is the perfect meal. Come! Sit!So, you found me. That must’ve taken some work. I can’t think why you bothered. I’ve been a nobody now for so many years. The thing is, after you’ve been found guilty and served your sentence, that’s not the end of the punishment. Far from it! No, your life ends compl
