Colin Tosh speaking in Improving Habitat Connectivity on your Farm session at Groundswell 2026 (opens the original)
Read excerpt
In 2024, a study carried out by the Organic Research Centre, funded by the Big Give Foundation through the Progressive Farming Trust, investigated the impact of hedgerows on habitat connectivity in Suffolk and Norfolk. The research found that woodland patches with dense hedgerows within 1-3 km had higher biodiversity due to an influx of arthropods and other species. However, connected patches were not more similar to each other, suggesting insufficient movement of individuals through hedgerows.
