Ordinary Old Catholic Me

There are lots of Catholic me's out there. We are lifelong practitioners of a certain age, folks who maybe remember Pre-Vatican Two and were thrown into the deep end of Post-Vatican Two where we still swim. We are maybe well read, but we are not theologians.

Still Beige and What Happened to Fraternal Correction? (opens the original)

    Episode notes · Critical tone

    Read excerpt

I guess this is a kind of repeated lamentation. Not even small things are corrected in a Church, coming in late, leaving early, talking, chewing gum, drinking lattes, demanding no bells or smells (incense) because of personal taste and needs. Episode notes

    Read excerpt

Ed Broom, OMV (Oblates of the Virgin Mary) who does online and live retreats on the Exercises just recently released a book doing the exercises by yourself. I was on the Seventh Week when I was doing notes for this podcast entry, and I decided to try doing a version of the Rich Young Man, with me in a kind of dream sequence, I guess, of being the Self-Sufficient Elder
