I hate how brown it is, dull and there, plain, not even the kind they call ‘burnt’, needing colourful and shapely pillows to make it seem like it has any life in it. It’s big and takes up half my living room, promising enough space for me and mine and theirs to sit, but instead our buttocks are met with lumpy and sag… Foam so thin I can feel the carpenter’s work. So it holds us in this awkward way
