I had a lot of fun reading through The New York Times list of the 100 Best TV Shows of the 21st Century. I think this is a pretty good list. I’d quibble with some of the placements and inclusions, but overall, what a wonderful reminder that the last few decades have been a golden age of television and we’ve been graced with some truly incredible art on our small screens. <a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!_enh!,f_auto,q_a

We had a lovely weekend saying farewell to summer. I took Oliver for his first “night” swim on Friday night, which he loved. He usually goes to bed around 7, but I took him to the pool at that time instead and we swam through the 7:30 sunset until it was nearly fully dark just after 8. He thought it was the best and it was a great way to say goodbye to the pool for the season. He and I also enjoyed a downtown Charlotte adventure this weekend. We had a lovely Labor Day weekend; I hope you did, too! My sister brought her family over for most of the day on Saturday. It started to pour just as we were about to take the boys (4 of them, aged 6 and under!) to the pool, so we all played outside in the rain instead. It’s so fun to have a hot summer thunderstorm and enjoy that with little ones. The rest of the weekend was pretty lowkey for us. Oliver spent nearly all of Monday doing a variety of imaginative play on his own, which was really l

It’s been a busy week and I haven’t finished many “extras” this week, so today’s roundup is a short one. We’re feeling fully settled into the school routine and it’s so lovely to have that predictability and balance again. As we enter September, I’m foreseeing a really lovely month with a nice balance of work and play for us. If You Only Have Time for One Thing:I don’t have something this week! Just go outside and soak up the last bit of summer, even if it’s still sweltering hot where you live l
