I was an incredibly average student throughout my entire school career. In junior high and high school, I got mostly B’s and a few A’s, but honestly I didn’t try very hard. When I say I didn’t try hard, I’m not trying to say that I was smart and therefore didn’t put in much effort to get those grades, and I’m not trying to paint myself as dumb and suggest that I had to work really hard to get them. In a small town, there weren’t a lot of options for sports teams for kids to join. The most common were soccer teams or softball ones. In kindergarten, I rode a short yellow bus with a much-beloved bus driver named Frank, who would sing silly songs to the children as he

At least once a year, they would come visit us too, and we would swap spending holidays at our home in the mountains for theirs on the coast. Grandma and Grandpa lived in an apartment complex not far from the docks, and sometimes we would go take walks along the beach. This close proximity to the ocean didn’t in any way give me warm feelings towards it because there was always a lingering fishy smell that I just couldn’t

In 2019, I went on a trip with my two good friends to the United Kingdom. It was so exciting for me to go because Alison had gone on several trips with our friend Mat, and I had so wished I could go too. But as many of their trips were during the worst of my MS saga and uncertain times, it wasn’t a possibility. I hadn’t been sure if travel would be in the cards for me; there are so many aspects to travelling in a foreign country that I just can’t tackle alone. I have been so lucky that Alison ha
