   I love a loop hike. In the absence of a true loop, I’ll take a lollipop — a route with a repeated “stick” leading to a looping “pop.” Given the choice between a moderate out-and-back and a longer, tougher loop, I’ll choose the loop almost every time. Loops offer the fresh views and continual sense of discovery of a point-to-point without the car shuttle, or hitchhike, that point-to-points require.
