Noer Vineyards came onto the scene with 130 acres under vine in a market that saw wineries opening with 3-10 acres under vine in normal times. They hit grocery store shelves with value-priced, tasty wines and won medals at the Virginia Governor’s Cup and Shenandoah Cup.They’re positioned in a great spot to attract wine lovers, and I really enjoyed sampling their wines. Yesterday I attended Pollak’s first Somm Session, tasting eight wines from their library. You can read my full WordPress post here.These verticals really highlight vintage variation and how Virginia’s unpredictable climate produces very different wines from the same grapes on the same site. Seven of the eight wines were made by Jake Busching when he was the winemaker at Pollak, (roughly 2005-2010), and so the philosophy and approach was largely the same, and the results are very different wines
