Last week, I wrote about Florence Henri – one of the icons of the avant-garde of the 1920s and 1930s. I was especially fascinated by her photographs, in which she used mirrors within her compositions to distort and visually layer her subjects in the frame.Inspired by her photographs, I decided to try to create my own interpretations. I used objects I had at hand, a few small mirror tiles, and my Ricoh GR IIIx, which lets me create in-camera multiple exposures.I hope you enjoy them…<f

When I am feeling uninspired or creatively somewhat blocked, I like to grab a couple of photobooks from my shelves to flip through. In the past few weeks, it was often books of photographers from the 1920s–1930s. It was based on the philosophy of Yin and Yang, which we interpreted photographically, creating pairings that held the opposites. Shortly after we published the fruits of our collaboration, reached out to me, asking if I would be interested in another collaboration on a similar challenge. His suggestion was to explore the cycle of life and death, renewal and decay with our cameras in a similar fashion as Juliette and I did. <

The other day, I was looking for the cleaning kit for my camera and instead stumbled upon my homemade Vortoscope.Vorto… what? you might ask, or maybe you remember this post and know what I am referring to. Anyway, I haven’t played with it since I last wrote about it, and thought I would give it another try. This time I decided to use it to photograph dahlias, which I just had picked at a “Pick your own flowers” field.<a class="image-link image2 is-v
