Ever since we found out about Saphira’s heart defect in May, life has been a bit of a blur. There was the initial shock at the diagnosis, the planning for a catheter-based procedure which involved a lead up of weeks out of daycare, time off work, and mental preparation - all for it to not work and a more invasive procedure needed. Then rinse and repeat all that planning, but add in additional time off work for a hospital stay and recovery at home. There were days where I felt completely crushed

We have been in a challenging season for the past five months. After an ER visit and overnight hospital visit for Saphira in both March and May, we learned that she has a large hole in her heart that needs to be closed. In July, she had a minimally invasive catheter-based procedure to close the hole, but unfortunately it was too big to be fixed with this method.
