    A recent spate of rainy days here brought not only soggy ground and high humidity, but also an amazing growth of mushrooms sprouting on the lawn. Not just one type of mushroom, but a number of them. Many popped up overnight, and if I wasn’t quick to grab a photo the next morning, the local squirrels sampled them, leaving bite marks and demolished stems lying scattered about. Unlike most of us humans, the bushy-tailed rodents somehow know which mushrooms won’t kill them if eaten.My mystery-horror

    The conferences I attend are usually geared toward writers or books. This month, I attended one that focused on wooden canoes.
