I’m not sure how a week can feel a bit hectic and quiet at the same time, but this one has.Life is full because, well, life is full, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. I have gotten to spend time with people who mean a lot to me and also work on projects and keep promises. Learning to hear with cochlear implants is an invitation to renegotiate my relationship to the world and I am doing my best to answer that invitation as best I can. Since most all you have heard about from me over the past month is my cochlear implants, I’ll give a brief update. My friend Heather suggested I turn these poems into a booklet that others could share. The idea also spoke to me because it gave me a way to have a tangible souvenir of these days. I am not imagining some grand publishing scheme. I am going

I am a little over halfway through my time in this waiting room between my surgery and when they activate my new cochlear implant. It has been a less social time for me, since I can only hear on my left side, and it has also been as rich as it has been exhausting. I have continued with my daily poetry practice, so I have more to share. Thanks again for taking time to read, share, and support what I am doing.Subscribe now<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img"
