Liz opens the gate, and I follow her into the large backyard. All along the fence and the adjacent wall are beautiful wildflowers. The delightful smells assail my senses. As I sit by the window The rain hits the sillI hear noise from downstairsWhy can't they be still?I'm not able to laughI can't even cryNoises won't leave me alone All my hopes have been blownAway with the rest of meBut I've learned sadness can be joyful That love can hurt most And loneliness can allow my feelings to coast On a wave of emotionLike a bird in the skyAnd as I sit by the window While the noisy world goes by I suddenly know why I am.
