Maureen’s Substack

I’m Maureen and I became a widow on August 29, 2023. I share my thoughts on loss, life, and those uncomfortable things no one wants to talk about. I am raw and honest about grief but I am also here to say it does get better. This is my story. Welcome.

August 29, 2023 — the day he was taken from us — is a date that will always be heavy for me. I felt it the day before without realizing why. I had a fury in me that wouldn’t ease up. Everything made me irrationally angry and I didn’t understand it. Then I realized it was the eve of his death anniversary. Since his death I do this thing when I get really angry. He rarely said we couldn’t.He was frugal with some things, but not with others. He preferred spending mone
