I got thinking about this after a comment Ricky Grove made on my piece the other week on guns. Think of your favorite action scene from a book or a movie. A high-speed car chase, a brutal fistfight, someone falling off a roof, or a bar stool gets broken over their head. Maybe they take a couple of bullets here to somewhere that isn’t a vital organ. The hero takes a beating, dusts himself off, and then a few scenes later he’s carrying on as though nothing happened.<fi
