I’ve been a bit single-minded in my practice the last couple of weeks. Landscapes and landmarks and trying to crack the code to make them light my fire. They didn’t, they don’t, I’m setting them aside for now. Going back to dorking around with techniques and what catches my eye.—Focus stackingI tried the camera setting for focus stacking, shooting by hand. It doesn’t work. Everything was blurry. Using my tripod fixed the blur and adding a longer exposure (about 6/10ths of a second) gave more int

A few different practice sessions this week. I discovered a local floral wholesaler and went a bit wild but more on that as we go…I headed back to The Ruins in Tower Grove Park with an arrangement. I’m not normally a fan of centered perspective but the sculpture and sprinklers played so nicely with the trees and path.I took a lot of photos freehand (no tripod) but no single image caught my eye. I played with stacking and blending 12 of them together instead. I dig the composit

Only had an hour for my practice session this week and the universe gave me a lot of goodness in a short amount of time.Breaking all the rulesThe sun was coming up just over the trees and casting those rays I love. So I did exactly what you aren’t supposed to do, rebel that I am, and shot into the sun to see what I could get.<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!2kJT!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3
