This past weekend, I took a break from visiting Iowa for woodworking events and headed south to Austin for the Texas Woodworking Festival. About six months ago, Austin Waldo reached out to see if I would be willing to give a few talks at this year’s event. I had never been in the past, but had seen plenty of pictures and videos on social media. It seemed like a pretty good time, so I figured why not. <a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!y1Si!

I’ve spent about fifteen total minutes in my shop since last week, and the break has been quite nice. Ever since it was built last spring, I’ve spent pretty much every free minute in there working hard on something with a tight deadline. For once, I feel like I have a little breathing room. I’ve been going to bed early, moving a bit more slowly, and using the time to check out other things.<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!VoLJ!,f_auto,q_a
