Self-care for Those Who Love a Reactive Dog (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Back in August, I bought a Roc Outdoors ‘Kahuna’ iSUP on Amazon that I really enjoyed for the five weeks that I got to use it before the tail seam unexpectedly popped open. I’d gotten Hazel on it a few times and was looking forward to a time when the lake wasn’t so busy and I could try to get Japhy on it. Today is Hazel’s 6th birthday!Well, we don’t actually know the exact date she was born, but when I took her to her very first vet appointment in October 2020, Dr. Clark aged her at about two months old, so we randomly assigned August 31 as her birthday. Until then, we’re living up the last bit of summer here in the Midwest. For a few years now I’ve wanted to buy an inflatable standup paddleboard (iSUP), both for my own enjoyment and self-care, and to see if the dogs would take to it. Twenty years ago, I had a hard-sided kayak that I took to the lake nearly every day after work as a way to relieve stress. When
Nomadic Living With Dogs (opens the original)

For the last month or so, I’ve been publishing an infoseries about Nomadic Living on my Patreon page. It’s accessible to free members of my Patreon community if you’re interested in signing up for a free account and reading the entire series; however, I’m sharing Part 7 (slightly edited for Substack) here on the Love Dogs Adventure Blog because it’s specific to nomadic living with dogs.
