Prologue:Thanksgiving day 2025 I turned 70 years old. My husband and I celebrated with a group of friends that we almost always spend Thanksgiving with. After the turkey and the mashed potatoes, out came a scrumptious five-layer birthday cake. Then we played a silly memory game and I did okay, proud to say. The people at the table were mostly people I have known since my thirties, all in their late 60s or early 70s. Except for the younger brother of one of my friends — a healthy, personable guy
