Gov. Mike DeWine signed House Bill 251, sponsored by state Rep. Bernie Willis (R-Springfield), into law July 7. The bill aims to regulate how law enforcement uses unmanned aerial vehicles, better known as drones, and updates the stateâs aeronautics laws. Law enforcement agencies across Ohio have already been using drones to assist in their work. Springfield is one of eight municipalities participating in the Drone First Responder program, a pilot program using drones to improve response times.
