UFC Vegas 121 - Just the picks, Jack! (opens the original)

UFC Vegas 121 aka the TUF finale is an ugly card. There are a few decent fights and the rest are just filler. It is an Apex event, so we’ve gotten used to the typical fodder we get from them. I do love the optics of the hardened criminal facing the cop, though. I feel like someone at the matchmaking wheel was having some fun with that one. I’m also wildly intrigued with the co-main event (the new and improved one since they changed the bout order). Having an attempted love triangle checks boxes

We are back from a much-needed break and we’re working our way through what is a sort of decent card, but also not one that has a whole lot of consequence outside the main and co-main events. Joshua Van and Alexandre Pantoja take center stage in what is bound to be an all-timer in a rematch that simply had to happen. Arman Tsarukyan finally makes his return to the cage against the red-hot Mauricio Ruffy, and Patricio Pitbull continues his late-career run against Korean Superboy (who is not exact

UFC Paris - Just the picks, Jack! (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Critical tone

UFC Paris is some nasty work by the promotion. Not a single ranked fight. Just three ranked fighters. Lots of fighters coming off losses and several debuts—even one straight off a Contender Series loss. It’s shameful. There are a few fun fights on the card, but considering the dearth of good on-paper stats, I’m grumbling and being a curmudgeon. Let me just wish you well in your picks and hope you all have a great weekend! This is our shameless plea for you to consider becoming a paid

UFC Sacramento - Just the picks, Jack! (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Critical tone

UFC Sacramento is an ugly card. With just a single ranked fight and three ranked fighters in total, it bears all hallmarks of an event built for fans that the UFC hates. Thirteen fighters hailing from the Contender Series and a quartet of debuts for an on-the-road fight night is pretty much throwing the bird to the fine folks in California that will attend this show. Now we all know that cards like these tend to deliver action, but is it quality action? That’s the question that always makes me f

UFC 330 - Just the picks, Jack! (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Critical tone

UFC 330 has a few interesting fights, two of them being the main and co-main events—which are also title bouts—but by and large, it’s not a particularly good looking card. The matchmaking is wackadoodle and the stats are pretty underwhelming. I’ll watch, but with open contempt for the promotion that has a death grip on the sport but refuses to show that they’re a $40B company capable of so much more.Victor is on vacation in the lovely Dominican Republic, so in the interest of him enjoying that p
