It was meant to be a festive afternoon, but mangled bodies stained the streets red. The suitcase had been placed at the corner of Steuart and Market Streets where the pipe bomb, filled with steel slugs for maximum carnage, exploded just after 2pm. The force of the explosion ripped limbs from men, women and children and one man’s hat—and skull fragments—landed on a rooftop across the street.
