Learning to see my body for what it can do, not just how it looks (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Neutral tone

I used to be so insecure about my arms. I gained some weight my senior year of high school and hated having to wear my sleeveless cheerleading top. I was still overweight, and gained even more my freshman year, so I hid in baggy sweatshirts and long sleeves constantly. It was at the end of my freshman year that I went to New York City to study with my college professor. I fell in love with the city and returned the following spring as a sophomore. After that, I was hooked, and felt the need to m

My Purpose Is Bigger Than My Embarrassment (opens the original)

I think one of my favorite things about NYC is being able to walk to work or school or hop on the subway.Funny story: We used to walk from our apartment on 70th Street up to the school on 77th, and I would often pass Andrew McCarthy on the way. I always wanted to bust out singing “Respect” by Aretha Franklin. I had such a crush on Andrew when I was younger, and “St. Elmo’s Fire” will always be one of my favorite movies. First, it took quite a bit of training to figure out the carabiners and how to unlock and re-clip each time for total safety. Then, our guide asked us if we wanted to try the advanced route and, of course, my boys all said yes.

The Skincare Products I Actually Use (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Positive tone

After I posted some reels on Beekman 1802 products, I’ve had so many of you reach out asking about my skincare routine. I get this question a lot, honestly, as a 53 year old woman. I’m just not much of a 10 step person. Busy mom of three boys here, and I like to keep things simple and easy to follow, kind of like my workouts. But I am consistent, and I truly love Beekman and I was so excited to work with them. In addition to their products, I’ve used a lot of the same brands for many years now t

My Ceiling Fell In. So Did I. (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Critical tone

    Read excerpt

The past couple of weeks have been a little chaotic for me. With back to school starting for my three boys, there is so much to do already, then add to that a major leak in our house. I was in my bed reading and dozed off, next thing I know I’m woken up by three screaming boys and a flood of water coming through the ceiling. My son had started a bath and let it run a bit too long and the overflow valve wasn’t working. The next morning, I called a mitigation company—and if you’ve ever been throug
