Eventually, he switched over to kava-kratom tonics and began abusing prescription ADHD medications alongside kratom. Quitting with the help of an intensive outpatient treatment program and twelve-step meetings, he was also aided by suboxone, which he has tapered down to 3 mg at the time of the interview.
