The Inside Track: Lateral moves (opens the original)
Read excerpt
I find it ironic every time a mid-level team in any racing series makes a driver change. More often than not, the team replaces a mid-level driver with another mid-level driver. The team and driver both boast that the change will be good for both, and drive the team forward. More often than not, they end up being lateral moves, with the mid-level team continuing to run mid-pack, and thatâs putting it nicely.
