I wrote a “mommy blog” (why do those words make me cringe so deeply?) for nearly ten years, and felt oddly comfortable, maybe even justified, in giving that era thematic centerstage of my writing.It felt worth speaking about. It helped that I’ve always viewed motherhood as inherently political, and my own path through motherhood as an active then recovering alcoholic further expanded the boundaries of discourse, but really, the topics of pregnancy, early motherhood and child-rearing felt worthy
