The Role of Longing and Heartbreak (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Positive tone

    Read excerpt

At first blush, longing and heartbreak might seem an odd ingredient for effective storytelling. But when you examine your past heartbreaks, it is likely that they were brutally clarifying, which is essential when we want to create change. Even if the connection is between two people, that simple line gives us an understandable star

Storytelling and How to be Held (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Positive tone

    Read excerpt

Where is our support?I’ve been married twice and though each wedding was completely different, they were both held in loving support. My first wedding took place in Welfare, Texas on the Strange Range (and we slept in Comfort!). I was 27 years old and I married another artist and our community was thick with actors, musicians, writers, artists, and producers. A film production designer put together our wedding altar, complete with hand plucked and dried flower petals. A theater costume designer
