The Drummer and I live across the street from a city park. We watch the seasons come and go as the oak and maple and sycamore and locust trees leaf out, gracefully shade sidewalks and grass in the park, then blush and drop their leaves for winter. We note the school kids who wander through the park on their way to school, and we watch as they head back again toward home, clutching band instruments and notebooks and lunches. We observe little ones swinging and jumping and running as their parents

September 15, 2026This past week we observed the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.This particular anniversary seemed to hit harder than usual, perhaps because it served as a reminder of how much things have changed as a result of those events.But anniversaries are just that—anniversaries.
