CTA Red Line riders through Lake View have a new mural to catch just east of the Sheridan stop. Artist Anthony Lewellen — also known by his graffiti name Antck — added a bright and welcoming pop of color stretching 80 feet across and 26 feet up the wall behind the Nourishing Hope building at 3945 N. Sheridan Road. Neighbors grasp hands, hand off groceries and gather around a circular table. Big bright circles within circles of various colors, Lewellen’s signature shape, billow behind the scenes.

Chicago founder Jean Baptiste Point DuSable has gotten a lot more attention than his wife, Kitihawa, and the contributions she made to the growth of Chicago. Two woman and a Ravenswood school are aiming to change that with a new mural featuring Kitihawa and DuSable on the front and side walls of the North Park Elementary School annex at 2017 W. It’s the same place she went to school as a child growing up in Roseland. And that’s how faces of Roseland’s teens ended up in a mural on the side of the new ho

Read excerpt
A 25-foot tall image of Bears quarterback Caleb Williams gave Chicago artist Asend the opportunity to flex his knack for fine art details and his graffiti writer style in a massive mural for the West Loop that Bears fans are stopping to see in person. Completed earlier this month, the three-story image stretches 35 feet wide and features the image of Williams in his “Iceman” pose, with arms crossed across his chest, in front of a navy blue wall. The mural is on the Halsted Street side of La Josi
