PHOENIX â Arizona Public Service customers set a new all-time peak electricity demand record Sunday evening as extreme heat continued across Arizona and neighboring states, according to the utility. APS reported customers used a preliminary 9,164 megawatts of electricity between 6 and 7 p.m. on Aug. 2, surpassing the previous record of 9,053 megawatts set July 24.
