LOLZLetter 394 | How Far Is Too Far for a Hobby?? (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Welcome,I went back and forth on whether I wanted to write about Joanna Wietrzyk and HYROX Beijing because by I think I’ve seen every opinion about that. Wietrzyk suffered bowel incontinence during the Women’s Pro race on September 12, continued competing while visibly soiled. I feel terrible that she got that sick in public because losing control of your bowels during a race sounds mortifying, but I still think she should have stopped, and once she did not, HYROX should have stopped her. I a
LOLZLetter 393 | Would you keep Racing through waist-deep floodwater? (opens the original)

Welcome,I have run races in some pretty terrible weather, and like most runners, my threshold for deciding conditions are bad is higher than it should be once I have paid for the race and traveled the start line. The newsletter is actually early (for once) because I’ll be going out of town for the weekend and don’t trust myself to be anything other than lazy...LOL.FueledbyLOLZ blog (and newsletter) has covered a lot of running over the years, including PRs, bad races, injuries, workouts, shoe reviews, travel, and plenty of stretches when training looked very different from what it does now. Mental health has been part of that history too, and I
LOLZLetter 390 | Have Running Brands Made Too Many Running Shoes? (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Welcome,I review a lot of running shoes, which means I spend more time than the average person staring at brand lineups...During the past year, the question: have running brands made too many shoes, has come up more often. The answer keeps getting harder to explain. A brand launches another daily trainer, and it already has several daily trainers, a max-cushion shoe, a premium trainer and a super trainer...Running shoes are selling, the category is healthy, and brands have every incentive to keep
