A peek at my wedding/honeymoon packing list (opens the original)
Read excerpt
TBH, as of writing this, I haven’t even started packing. Packing doesn’t really stress me out because I know my closet well, and I know what I like to wear. I don’t fall victim to the idea that my style will be different just because I’m on vacation—not even for my wedding/honeymoon! I took the same approach for all wedding-related events. One of my “rules” for myself was that I wouldn’t buy anything I wouldn’t wear in my normal life, besides the dress, of course. I want to look and feel like my

At the beginning of the summer, I shared a bit of how our roof deck was finally coming together in our third summer here. We’d just gotten a new dining set, but the seeds we planted were barely sprouted. Now, we have a garden in full bloom, a crop of heirloom tomatoes, and the perfect place to screen an outdoor movie. All in the middle of Manhattan! It makes me so happy. I mean look at this absolute oasis!!!!<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/

Apologies for how sporadic these newsletters have become (if you’ve happened to notice). Our wedding is in six weeks, and the final planning stages are taking up more of my time than expected. Anyway… <a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!2xie!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubsta

In the early days of dating Tim, he called to see what I was up to. “Not much. Just piddlin’,” I said. “You’re… peeing?” he asked. “What? No!” It was certainly too soon for me to be talking about my bathroom habits with him. I explained that piddlin’ (to me, a girl from Oklahoma) meant something like busy doing nothing. I’d never heard it used to describe peeing, as it apparently was used in New Jersey, where he grew up. And he could not wrap his mind around the concept I was describing. Piddlin
sewing myself out of a creative rut (opens the original)
Read excerpt
I haven’t been feeling very creative lately. Any of that energy is going towards work or wedding planning, neither of which offers the kind of creative satisfaction I’m after. I can’t seem to muster ideas like I used to! There’s laundry to do, grocery lists to make, workout classes to attend, a screen to stare at, etcetera, etcetera. I feel simultaneously overstimulated and understimulated. Overstimulated because my brain doesn’t get a rest in my busy routine; understimulated by that very same r
