Renovation Diary [Chapter Eleven] (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

Upon realising that there is no way our larger renovation will be starting before the new year - yes, I have been living in a constant state of denial about how long these things actually take before lift-off, my mind immediately wandered to projects that I could work on now.Because why relax before the storm when instead I can create a pretty decent list of DIY tasks to get to work on? And because I remain incredibly impatient - I’m not a quitter, and see no reason to not get on with the things

A Foodie Kind of Saturday: In Praise of Butter Beans (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

The last two weeks have been a mixed bag weather wise, but as mentioned in yesterday’s post [for paid subscribers which incidentally is just £3.50 a month for two posts a week if you want to subscribe! Here endeth my mini sales pitch] I have apparently, quite unwittingly, given in to the fact that summer is over and have already leaned in to comfort food cooking. Shop It! Pyjamas That Are Meant To Be Seen (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

Design Details: Bedroom Plans and Mood Board (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Positive tone

    Read excerpt

I thought it was about time I shared our bedroom plans with you, and as with the rest of the house, ideas are still forming and evolving but this is where I’m at as of now.I want it to be a calm and cocooning space that feels warm and welcoming, though there is a high chance that if I achieve all that that I will never leave it. Oh well.To create that feeling I plan to really lean in to loads of texture, and layers with wallpaper, textiles and soft, layered lighting.Aside from decorative changes

How To Have a Feature Wall Without Having a Feature Wall (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Critical tone

    Read excerpt

There was a time when it was perfectly acceptable to slap a random colour or wallpaper on just one wall of a room for no particular reason, other than that having a feature wall was the thing to do. I suspect that for many, there was really no other thought put in to it, and it’s a lot bloody easier to paint one wall or a chimney breast than it is to paint the whole room. And when it comes to wallpaper, it’s more likely the reason was that it’s infinitely more affordable and easier to wallpaper
