If you pick up a well-known poetry collection from the past 50 years or so you may well find at the back an Acknowledgements section or you might not. I just pulled a random four titles off the shelf to my right [the “L’s” and the “Ms”] and see that Philip Larkin’s The Whitsun Weddings has no acknowledgements; Jamie McKendrick’s The Sirocco Room has a plain list of where some of the poems appeared as does Derek Mahon’s Lives.
