In 1 Peter 1:3-9, Peter addresses his hearers with a recognition of their suffering sandwhiched between powerful foundational truths of the gifts we have been given in Jesus Christ. Trials are real, and difficult, but also temporary and when compared to the incorruptible hope and inheritance we have waiting for us, trivial. So how do we face our trials? In 1 Peter 1:1-2, we are introduced to the letter of 1 Peter. Packed into the traditional greeting is a ton of information to kick off our study of 1 Peter in a series we're calling "God's Good Taste". "Now that you have tasted and seen that God is good..." Then in Numbers 2 we see the Israelites arranged in their camp, each tribe positioned intentionally around the center, which is the Tabernacle, where God's glory dwells. This geometric lesson reminds us that our lives ought to be arranged with Jesus in the center, too,

Similarly, when we consider the moral degeneracy and evil that permeates our culture in America, it is tempting to conclude that the gospel of Jesus Christ and the church are ineffective. In Peter’s first epistle he writes to Christians who were confused and discouraged because of the wicked and cruel conditions they were living in under Roman rule. He gives instru
