Sunday 13th September 2026 // Evening // Genesis 37:12-36 // Joseph Lost to Jacob (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Rev. Craig Lynn preaches Genesis 37:12-36 at evening worship on Sunday 13th September 2026 in First Ards. Genesis 37:12–36 shows Joseph’s brothers acting with hatred, deceit and cruelty as they sell him into Egypt, while Jacob is left grieving what he believes is his son’s death. Yet the chapter’s quiet “meanwhile” reminds us that God’s sovereign purpose is still unfolding. Joseph’s rejection points us towards Christ, where human evil became the very means God used to accomplish salvation.

Read excerpt
Rev. Craig Lynn preaches John 17:11-12 at morning worship on Sunday 13th September 2026 in First Ards. Jesus prays that his disciples will be protected and kept as they remain in a hostile world. Their perseverance doesn’t finally depend on their own strength, but on God’s preserving grace. Peter’s later failure shows that Christian can stumble badly without being abandoned by Christ. Our confidence is that the Saviour who died, rose and intercedes for his people is faithful to keep his own.

Even when his providence is hidden, his promises remain certain and Joseph’s rejection

Read excerpt
Rev. Craig Lynn preaches John 17:2-3 at morning worship on Sunday 6th September 2026 in First Ards. In John 17:2–3, Jesus shows that eternal life is more than just living forever, It’s knowing the only true God through Jesus Christ. This life isn’t something we earn but a gift Christ has authority to give. As believers, we’re called to prize knowing God above wisdom, strength or security and, as a church, to help others know and enjoy him through his Son.
Sunday 30th August 2026 // Morning // John 17:1 // Our Great High Priest Prays for Us (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Rev. Craig Lynn preaches John 17 and Hebrews 7 at morning worship on Sunday 30th August 2026 in First Ards. As a new church year begins, John 17 invites us to listen as Jesus prays for his people and to let his priorities shape ours. Alongside Hebrews 7, we’re reminded that the risen Christ still lives to intercede for his church. Our confidence, then, isn’t in perfect plans or perfect service, but in our great High Priest who loves his church, gave himself for her and continues to plead for us.
