The Victory of Faith (opens the original)
Read excerpt
This morning, I was reading C.W. Budden’s Bible Portraits—an older, obscure little book I recently bought from a friend. Today, I specifically read his portrait of Caleb. Budden was largely considering Joshua 14:14, which essentially contains an epitaph for Caleb:“…he wholly followed the Lord.”What a grace it would be to have that said of me at the end of my life, or even written on my tombstone, though I am surely not as wholehearted as Caleb. Fullness of Joy in Marriage (opens the original)
Read excerpt
As I pondered and sought the Lord about what to share at a recent bridal shower—what might encourage a bride as she approaches her wedding day and prepares to begin her marriage—all manner of advice and popular clichés began to run through my mind. There are so many things people will say are the secret to a happy marriage. Many of them can be helpful (though some are less so), but I have found that the vast majority simply fall a bit short. With this in mind, I would like to direct our thoughts
