It is so fascinating to me how music or art can sometimes use simple ideas to convey feeling or groove. The song that inspired this ruminative session is Sad to Know (You’re Leaving) by Gregory Isaacs. The instrument that has caught my intrigue and for some reason, is so cool to me, is the guiro, pictured below. This percussion instrument adds a simple, pleasing, wooden-sounding scrape to the sonic backdrop and is a very nice textural instrument to give a song added depth.</div
