What happened September? Why so ‘busy’ and yet also melancholy? Spring is about beginnings but come the ninth month we feel like we are just running, running to stay ahead of the impending end. The wind gets interested. Blossoms cover our cars. Pollens infiltrate nasal passages and throats and lungs. I do two poetry readings and both times I read one poem too many. I buy a book called Sea Diseases by W. Cockburn and leave it on our kitchen table to see how long it will take for my partner to comment on it. The book came from eBay and was delivered via being thrown over our small front fence onto our scrappy front garden while it was raining. I was home so once I got the notification, I dashed out to rescue the book. I am working with a lot of writers. My role is called mentor or dramaturg. I am reader, responder, sounding board, cheerleader, questioner, suggester.
