A few weeks ago, I was the guest speaker at The Cliterary Book Club in Portland, Oregon, one of the first book clubs to read Sober Mom. Ok, currently the only book club, but I’m working on it!One member, Michelle, opened the discussion by admitting she almost didn’t want to read the book at all. Her mother suffered from the disease of alcoholism for most of her childhood. It’s not an easy topic for Michelle, and she said so plainly, right at the start. That immediately drew me to her. I love it

Last week’s Sober Mom launch events were magical. At my local NJ one in a parish house (parish houses/church basements hold a special place in my heart, since that’s where I got—and stay—sober), both my writing and recovery communities showed up in force. I was so grateful to have so much love and support in the room. Why? So a young professional wondering if he has a problem might get answers from AA’s pamphlet at a doctor’s office. So a woman

Hey guys! I’m currently on my way home from the first stop on my DIY book tour in Portland, OR. The women of the Cliterary Book Club (best.name.ever!) were so welcoming. Sober Mom sparked some insightful, heartwarming, and heartbreaking discussions. Approximately eight out of the 10 women present had been adversely affected by alcoholism, some more seriously than others. Almost everyone had something to contribute. IHO, book club women are saving the publishing industry. And I appreciate anyone
