You know, there were some seriously powerful threads of feminism running through horror cinema even in the early 1960s. My book Scream with Me starts with Rosemary’s Baby (1968), because it’s centrally focused on the horror of domestic violence—social awareness of which as a real-life horror was only just emerging in the late 1960s.
