On the Iranian-Italian Cultural Kinship (opens the original)
Read excerpt
I’m in Torino for the weekend. It’s not a girls’ trip, an art escapade, or even a sports weekend, although the Serbian and Italian volleyball teams are staying at our hotel, apparently preparing to compete for something I clearly know nothing about. Our hotel is in the old FIAT Lingotto factory on via Nizza, with its famous rooftop test track. I’m not big on cars; I own the first-edition white Renault ZOE electric car, still going strong after 12 years, but sleeping in this old factory feels epic.
