    Under Mughal rule, a great number of works in Sanskrit and other Indian languages were retold or translated into Persian, as were oral and folk narratives. One such retelling is the short, jewel-like dastan or romance called Karnama-i Ishq (‘The Miracle of Love’) by poet and writer Rai Anand Ram ‘Mukhlis’.
