Long before I moved to the High Country, I made many trips over the years to North Carolina, both to the Outer Banks and to the MerleFest music festival. It took nine hours to drive from Ohio to nearby North Wilkesboro, NC, where MerleFest takes place, which is the massive 12-stage festival based on the legacy of our late and local musical heroes Doc Watson and his son Merle Watson.
