This week has been one of firsts! I was asked for an ePub copy of Das Britische Reich Book 1, which I worked out how to generate. But then, seeing the placeholder cover Scrivener included, I decided I wanted a dedicated ‘cover’. I’ve pasted version 2 below, as the text wasn’t distinctive enough in the first version. What do you think? <a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!REJq!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-pos

There are, no doubt, many metaphors for the highs and lows of the writing process. I had a busy weekend and my opportunities to write were limited, yet I still got over 5000 words written split between Sunday afternoon/evening and Monday evening, including another tunnel exploration! Fewer guards, more peril! The words were flowing freely!Which has brought me to the point where I’m getting into the culmination of scenes for the end of Book 2! I’ve reintroduced some characters and scene ideas from Book 1, in a kind of humorously ironic retrospective, but also restoring some much needed threat and tension. There’s been some character redemption, but equally I need to ensure my

This week’s big news: I am officially a ‘real’ author! I have received my first rejection email from a publisher.😁I’ve been giving serious thought to self-publishing Book 1 next year. My goodness, it’s a lot of work! I’m keeping my eyes open to other possible publishers as I understand the open for submissions around now. I’d found one locally in my town, but when I asked they’re not currently considering Young Adult publications. Building up a social media presence appears to be a large part of

It’s been a quiet weekend for writing. Having been struggling to weave the various plot lines together, I took the weekend off, giving the well of my imagination time to refill. I think I more or less managed to do that on Monday night and got most of a key chapter roughed out, as well as notes in four other chapters which will tie the narrative together and drive the action to it’s culmination. Something to do over the Bank Holiday weekend! This week we focus on Panzer Squad and the training pre
