Read excerpt
Every last weekend of September houses the Art Route Culemborg. I participated for the fourth year, together with 57 other artists in all kinds of disciplines, from painting, sculpting, illustrations, ceramics, photography and you name it. This year I was located in the local theatre, which is a lovely building, dating back from 1876. <a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!i69y!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-pos

The first time you arrive at a place, you see it in fragments. Everything is new to you. None of the details discovered yet. The texture of the groundl, the fall of the light, the buildings and/or trees, even the smell hanging in the air. But what if you’ve already returned to that same place dozens of times? The place itself hasn’t changed. How you experience it has. Now you start seeing things you missed before. Small details that, once you’ve seen them, you can never unsee. The same subjects
