How is pasta antifascist? (opens the original)
Read excerpt
On July 27th 1943, 2 days after Mussolini was deposed and arrested, the Cervi family, led by Alcide Cervi and his 7 sons, threw a pasta party to celebrate the end of war. As farmers and active anti-fascist activists, they scrounged up all the ingredients to make a simple pasta with butter and Parmesan cheese to feed the town of Campegine in northeastern Italy. <a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!SSb9!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/
