A Common Thread at The Textile Center (opens the original)
Read excerpt
It’s been so encouraging and inspiring to see how all of the Artists in Minnesota have responded to the unprecedented domestic terrorism we all lived through this year with the horrible Operation Metro Surge. There is endless material to explore, and our Artists are documenting all of it. The Textile Center is currently showing A Common Thread, an exhibition displaying the works of Textile Center Members, and the fiber artists are showing up for us too. <a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-im

Ever since doing The Artist’s Way back in the last century (!), I’ve enjoyed taking myself on “Artist’s Dates”. These are outings you do by yourself to inspire your own creativity. The Artists always lead us, through history. When I heard there was an art show of local artists’ favorite artists at Southside Preservation Society, I was there. This Substack is reader-supported. The Radical Act of Having Each Other’s Back - An Art Show For The Resistance. (opens the original)
Read excerpt
This year in Minnesota has been historic, and the Artists have responded. If you attended the Minnesota State Fair this year, you could see the evidence of what we all went through everywhere you looked, from Crop Art to Quilts on a Stick. We have been changed in deep and visceral ways, and the art of the times is reflecting that. Beautifully. A new art show opened during the Fair, so you might have missed hearing about it. The Radical Act of Having Each Other’s Back is a group show of 26 Minnes
